Michigan was the 26th state, admitted into the Union in 1837. Called the “Great Lakes State” because its shores touch four of the five Great Lakes, Michigan gets its name from an Ojibwa (Chippewa) Indian word meaning “large lake.” Michigan has an unusual geography, as it consists of two land masses–the Upper Peninsula and the mitten-shaped Lower Peninsula. Detroit, its largest city, is known worldwide as the center of the American auto industry. The apple blossom is the state flower, the robin is the state bird and Lansing is the capital.

Normally a child when born weighs 5.5-10 pounds, what would you say about this newborn child in China weighing 13 pound. I hope his mom was not prepared before, to make a world record of producing heaviest child ever, by eating lots of nutrients. However, she could not produce world’s heaviest child but yes, her huge child is third heaviest child in the world. In Guinness Book of World Records, heaviest child ever born is in Italy in September 1955 weighing 22.5 pounds.

When the Second Congo War started.The hundreds of thousands of women have been raped, most of them gang raped. Panzi Hospital is full of them.
Each new battle is followed by pillaging and rape; entire communities are terrorized. Forced to flee their homes, people take whatever they can, and walk for miles in the desperate hope of finding food and shelter. Over the last year, more than 500,000 people have been uprooted. A fraction of them make it to cramped camps, where they depend on UN aid to survive.

A new hospital-themed restaurant has opened in Riga, Latvia named Hospitalis.It is a must-see place if you like fish. The photos are from Hospitalis’s website. Once seated in the culinary world from the days he ate a “Flake Burger–a thin, nondescript slice of meat on a waffle. Here’s another unsual restaurant that joins the ranks of off beat eateries like the Toilet Restaurant in Taiwan. The most prominent new eatery at the time was a joint called Parsla Burger that served insipid little slabs of beef on waffles instead of bread.

High Dynamic Range-In image processing, computer graphics, and photography, high dynamic range imaging (HDRI or just HDR) is a set of techniques that allows a greater dynamic range of exposures (the range of values between light and dark areas) than normal digital imaging techniques. The intention of HDRI is to accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes ranging from direct sunlight to shadows.
